For eligible Japan Post shipments to the United States and selected European destinations, Negai Japan uses Zonos to calculate and prepay applicable import duties, taxes and processing charges before dispatch.
You pay these charges together with your international shipping. You do not need a Zonos account or to pay Zonos separately.
United States
Selected European destinations:
Eligibility depends on the destination, parcel value, contents and delivery address. Value limits and territorial exclusions apply.
For Estonia, Finland, Luxembourg and Spain, Zonos currently limits prepaid shipments to a goods value of €150 or less. Some territories are excluded, including the Åland Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
If your parcel may exceed a destination’s value limit, or your address is in a special territory, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the available shipping and import payment arrangements.
Import duties and taxes: Customs duties and applicable import taxes, such as VAT, on the products in your parcel. The amount depends on the declared value, quantity, country of manufacture, product classification and destination’s customs rules.
Clearance and processing fee: A separate charge from the prepaid import system covering customs clearance, processing and currency conversion costs. The amount is calculated for the parcel.
These charges are separate from international postage, packing materials, payment processing fees and Negai Japan’s service fee.
1. Initial estimate
After your items arrive at our warehouse and are checked, we calculate an estimate with Zonos so you can review the expected import costs before requesting shipment.
If you combine several items in one parcel, do not add their individual estimates together. The clearance and processing charge is recalculated for the combined parcel.
2. Final calculation
Once your parcel is packed, we recalculate the charges based on its final contents and quantities. Each separate parcel has its own calculation.
Before paying for shipping, you will see a breakdown of:
These charges are part of your shipping payment, rather than your initial product payment. After you pay, we arrange prepayment and the shipping documents through Zonos before dispatch.
You can use the payment methods available in your account. If you pay the full amount with your Negai Wallet balance, no PayPal fee is charged for that payment.
Yes. Changes to the parcel’s contents, quantities, destination or customs rules can affect the calculation.
If you request changes after the final calculation, we may need to recalculate and adjust the amount. Please check your shipping address and the final breakdown before paying.
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel before your parcel is handed to Japan Post.
We will check whether the Zonos declaration can still be cancelled and whether a refund is available. Refund eligibility depends on the shipment and payment status and any costs already incurred.
Cancelling a shipping request does not automatically cancel the original product purchase.
For shipments outside our prepaid import service, applicable import duties, taxes and handling fees may be collected during customs clearance or delivery, according to the destination’s rules.
These charges are the buyer’s responsibility unless explicitly included in your payment breakdown. Please contact us if you need help confirming the arrangements for your destination.
Zonos is a platform that helps calculate and prepay import duties and taxes for international shipments. Some destinations require these charges to be paid in advance.
Negai Japan uses Zonos for eligible shipments to meet those requirements and show you the applicable charges before you pay for shipping. We handle the process, you do not need a Zonos account.
