Prepaid Import Duties and Taxes for Eligible U.S. and EU Shipments

Negai Japan now offers prepaid import duties and taxes for eligible Japan Post shipments to the United States and 11 selected European Union countries.

Through Zonos, we calculate applicable import duties, taxes and processing charges before dispatch. You can review these charges and pay them together with your international shipping costs.

Which destinations are covered?

United States

Selected European Union countries:

• Denmark
• Estonia
• Finland
• France
• Italy
• Luxembourg
• Malta
• Netherlands
• Slovakia
• Spain
• Sweden

Shipping eligibility depends on the destination, parcel contents, value and delivery address. Value limits and territorial exclusions may apply.

For Estonia, Finland, Luxembourg and Spain, the prepaid service currently has a goods value limit of EUR 150.

What charges are included?

Depending on your destination and shipment, prepaid charges may include:

• Import duties: Customs duties calculated for the products in your parcel.
• Taxes / VAT: Applicable import taxes, including VAT for eligible European Union shipments.
• Clearance and processing: A separate Zonos charge covering customs clearance and currency conversion.

These charges are separate from international postage, packing materials, payment processing fees and Negai Japan's service fee.

How does it work?

After your items arrive at Negai Japan, we calculate an initial estimate of the applicable import charges.

Once your parcel is packed, we recalculate the charges based on its final contents and quantities.

Before completing your shipping payment, you can review the breakdown, including international postage, applicable duties, taxes or VAT, and processing charges.

Negai Japan handles the prepayment through Zonos. You do not need a separate Zonos account.

Important information

The final amounts may differ from the initial estimate. Prepayment does not guarantee customs clearance without additional checks or charges.
